 When is angioplasty surgery

Coronary arteries supply oxygen and nutritious blood to the heart muscles. When obstructions arise due to atherosclerosis (arteriosclerosis), it reduces the supply of blood to the heart muscles and begins to build the enzyme. Some patients with the problem of blockage may need angioplasty surgery.

Those patients whose cardiovascular problems become serious or medical treatment fails, their cardiac cathaps are examined. This test is also called cardiac catheterization or coronary angiogram. During cardiac catheter, pumping (blood pumping), the heart's blood shows the arteries and the inside part. When doing this, a tube called a catheter is inserted in the blood artery of the upper part of the patient's legs, thighs or arms. After this, it is transported to the heart. How is angioplasty surgery done?

The narrowing of blood vessels can cause chest pain or heart attack. If your heart's blood vessels are narrow, heart angioplasty can be done. It is also called PTCA (percutaneous translullinal coronary angioplasty) or balloon angioplasty. To improve blood flow through this process, the balloon used at the end of the catheters is used to open the blood vessels. A stent can be applied to keep the blood vessels open. Stent wire is a small utility like wire.

 In this technique, a vacant and powdered balloon catheter is placed in the narrowed area by placing it at the tip of a guide wire. After this, it is inflated to a certain size, using 75-500 times more water pressure than normal blood pressure (6 to 20 atmospheres). The balloon eliminates the accumulated fat inside the artery or the vein and opens the blood vessel for better flow. After this the balloon is dumped and pulled out by the same wire (catheter).

The success of angioplasty surgery depends on the fact that the blockage is in which of the arteries. Angioplasty surgery in peripheral artery is successful up to 98 percent. Only 10 percent of patients who have angioplasties are expected to get a blockage again. If the blockage is quickly detected, its guarantee of success will increase. Like other parts of the body, heart needs constant supply of blood. These are supplied by two large blood vessels, they are called left and right coronary arteries. Medication treatment is also effective in many cases of angina, but coronary angioplasty may be necessary to restore blood supply to the heart when angina is severe. Often, after a heart attack, coronary angioplasty is also done in the form of emergency treatment.
